Welcome to
Isla Scott Ltd
If pain, persistent symptoms, stress or feeling disconnected from your body are getting in the way of the life you want to live, there may be more to explore. And if you’ve tried the usual approaches without finding the answers you hoped for, perhaps it’s time to look at things differently.
Your pain and symptoms sit within a context that is unique to you, so even when your problem sounds similar to someone else’s, your starting point and the pathway forward may look very different.
At Isla Scott Ltd, I take a neuroscience-led, whole-person and highly bespoke approach. Drawing on over 30 years of physiotherapy experience, behavioural science, movement science and a broad range of evidence-informed disciplines, I look beyond the presenting symptom to understand the bigger picture, exploring how the different pieces may connect.

Isla from Scott Physiotherapy was absolutely crucial in helping me complete my 120k Arctic Circle trek this year.
Just four weeks before I was due to leave, I was carrying a painful glute injury and genuinely worried about whether I’d make it to the start line, never mind complete the challenge.
From the very beginning, Isla’s support, knowledge, and kindness stood out. She generously offered to continue supporting my physiotherapy free of charge up until I left — something I will forever be grateful for.
What makes Isla different is her truly bespoke, whole-person approach. With her deep expertise in persistent pain, movement issues, and her ability to understand the connection between body, mind and breath is brilliant.
Isla combines evidence-informed treatment that includes nervous system understanding to get to the root cause – this I think., is Gold standard physiotherapy care.
Thanks to Isla’s compassionate care and clinical precision, I not only made it to the Arctic Circle trek but completed the full 120k journey.
I cannot recommend Isla and Scott Physiotherapy highly enough. If you are struggling with persistent pain, movement problems, or simply want to better understand and support your body, you will be in incredibly capable hands.

I suffered a herniated disc 7 years ago and went on a long journey of recovery, consulting physicians and receiving physiotherapy, making intermittent progress but never being fully without pain. After 5 years, the symptoms had become overbearing and life-impacting so after further consultation I underwent surgery to replace a disc in my back. Despite this being major surgery, the promise of full recovery within months with an extremely high success rate filled me with optimism.
Sadly, despite weekly physiotherapy sessions and regular updates with the surgeon, my progress was slow (well behind the timeframes that had been suggested to me and what is suggested online) and I was never without pain. At times it was as bad as it had been before the surgery and I had to give up most exercise and it impacted many decisions I made on a daily basis. It was recommended that I have multiple steroid injections as well as nerve ablation treatment, all of which I went through with and all of which delivered almost no results, often making the pain worse in the short term.
Almost 2 years after my surgery, I relocated to the Island and consulted Isla at Isla Scott Ltd who for the first time spoke to me specifically about how to treat chronic pain (which is clearly what I was experiencing). The approach felt strange to me at first as for the first three sessions there was no physical treatment at all. We simply talked through the logic of how the mind, brain and body all work together with pain and how it’s possible to use your brain as the most effective pain relief strategy. What helped me was to read up on the topic (reading Chronic Pain by Dr Evan Parks was a particular turning point for me) and learn the logic and science behind these ideas. The biggest obstacle for me was to overcome the fact that this felt like someone was telling me I was making it up in my head. That’s absolutely not the case at all and once you understand that all pain is real but that the way our body sends us threat signals can be managed, you can start to rewire your brain and the way pain manifests itself in your body.
It may be hard to believe that within weeks I began to manage my pain better than I had in the past 7 years and all of this without any physical treatment. A few months later with a combination of physical treatment and deeper understanding of pain management, I now experience days without pain, and have restarted activities like playing golf that I thought I would never be able to do again. Don’t get me wrong, there are ups and downs on the journey but I am in the best place I’ve been since my initial injury.
I can say without any exaggeration, that this has changed my life beyond expectation and I can only hope that this type of treatment for chronic pain can become more widespread, accepted and adopted so that more people can manage their pain better and start enjoying life to the full once more.

It was thanks to the professional concern that Isla had for a hip condition that I had that she referred me to a Consultant who subsequently carried out a full hip replacement; which has been life changing. Following the operation Isla provided me with a great rehab programme – since Isla’s referral I have moved on from struggling to walk to completing the Great North Run! I would recommend Scott Physio to anyone.

Just a note to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for all your wonderful treatment. I am not really sure how to say this without sounding super soppy but you have given me my life back. I felt in safe hands from the very start and the improvement in my pain began immediately. Not only are you 100% professional Isla but you do not forget to be kind and friendly too. Sweet, lovely, friendly, super-talented top class Isla. Never forget that your USP is you. You are the reason I have returned to fitness and I will always recommend you. – You and the ‘Country Life’ mags that is!

If it hadn’t been for him (Professor Len Funk) and Isla Scott, I would never have made it to the 2007 TT, it just wouldn’t have been possible.
I came in to take my thirteenth win at the TT and it was an historic moment taking a double victory in the 100th anniversary of the event

Competing in the event of Snowboard Cross I get injured quite a lot! Scott Physio are always there to help put me back together again as soon as I get back to the island, even if I call the day I return and say I have another injury they always do whatever they can to see me as soon as possible. They are very professional, know what they are talking about and are great at explaining exercises to take away so I can recover fast and get back on the snow. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.
